TeleCuraçao went on the air for the first time on July 31st, 1960. The local television
station was founded by the American Gerald Bartell. Most of its programming at that
time consisted of American TV series. Today, more than 70 percent of TeleCuraçao’s
programming consists of locally produced programs and surveys indicate that approximately
80 percent of local viewers watch TeleCuraçao on a regular basis.
TeleCuraçao places its focus on the production of local content, given that this
content is not viewable via other channels that are available on either cable, satellite,
internet or mobile devices. Some of the programs or events produced by the station
are: Moru Bondia, Bo Trai Merdia, TeleNotisia, E Bon Yu di Kòrsou, gameshow Bai’e,
Tumba Festival, Carnival and National Flag Day.
TeleCuraçao’s content is viewable via various platforms: Channel 8, TDS Cable, telecuracao.com,
YouTube, Sint Maarten Cable, Aruba Cable, RTV7 (Netherlands) and TCFM APP. TeleCuraçaoFM
93.3 (TCFM) is the latest edition to the TeleCuraçao Multi-Media group. The radio
station went on the air January 30th, 2011. The station is state of the art as it
can produce and transmit both radio and TV. TCFM is currently amongst the top five
radio stations in Curaçao.
